CHAPTER 8: Good-byes

The reason you were sad? Well, it was sort of your last day in your hometown. Yes, you became a trainer after you reached the proper adventuring age, but decided to stay so you and [p/n] could celebrate your anniversary. Though staying might not have been a good idea, because you ended up deciding to stay a few more years.

You had already packed the things you thought you'd need during your journey, so you secured your house and left a note on the door. Your parents lived beside you and you trusted them with the key to your house.

"I'm going to miss you, honey." Your mom sounded a little sad.

"I'll surely miss you too. But I'll write letters and call you as often as I can." You assured, giving your mother a hug.

"What about me?" Your dad spoke from behind you.

You whipped around smiling and gave your dad a giant bear hug. "Of course, I'll miss you too, dad."

You and [p/n] walked out of your home and headed to your usual secret spot, after saying your goodbyes of course.  You had the picnic basket in your arm as you and [p/n] took your time to get to your destination. At first the mood in the air seemed to be a bit gloomy, so you decided to lighten the mood with a little conversation. "Hey, [p/n]," your Arcanine turned to look at you, "are you ready to go and explore the world?"

"Arc!" [p/n] agreed as [he/she] got into a crouching pose.

You giggled.

~~~~~Time skip to your secret spot~~~~~~

You and [p/n] were sitting on a picnic blanket in an open field. The breeze was soft, but still cool against the fading sunlight. "[p/n]," you murmured earning a questioning look from your Arcanine, "its beautiful....isn't it?" Your [h/c] hair lightly flowing away from your face because of the wind. [p/n] hummed in agreement. You then closed your eyes and began to hum a bit; and before you knew it, you were singing.

I want to be the very best,
like no one ever was,
to catch them all is my real test,
to train them is my cause,

I will travel across the land,
Searching far and wide,
These pokemon to understand,
The power that's inside,

[P/n] then looked at you with determination burning in her eyes. [He/She] felt the meaning behind your song and was ready to fight along your side. You treated and protected [him/her] like family and, naturally, [he/she] began to feel the same way towards you. Your Arcanine loved your smile and the sound of your laughter so much that [he/she] wanted to see more of it. Even if it means you might forget [him/her] one day.

Every challenge along the way

I will battle everyday
To claim my rightful place

You opened your eyes and your [e/c] irises were met with an exuberant sight. The beautiful explosion of bright orange and golden light made a smile adorn your lips. There was an enchanting feeling to sitting in this golden glowing field and listening to the sound of the grass and the leaves on the trees rustling. You thought that this would be a nice place to have your first kiss and as if to assure the idea, you touched your lips with the tips of your finger. However, your thoughts were interrupted when you noticed that [p/n] was glaring at an object over your shoulders.
